The BB4 is designed to improve driving distance. Its alpha-beta forged face increases the ball speed of the face thereby increasing distance. The bellowed sole also works to increase the ball speed. This is a key design feature.

Upon impact club the bellowed sole helps the face compress and decompresses to launch the ball forward. The decompression is from front to back instead of all over. This release creates a stronger ballistic trajectory for more carry, run, and less spin.

The BB4 also has a center of gravity that is slightlyhigher than most drivers. It aligns with the compression of the bellowed sole. As such, golfers get increased forgiveness for misses.The bellowed sole makes this driver ease to play with.
